How to Fix Sprocket Slipping or Speed Loss? Installation & Chain Tension Standards
Latest company news about How to Fix Sprocket Slipping or Speed Loss? Installation & Chain Tension Standards

Slipping, power loss, or tooth skipping is rarely caused by sprocket defects. In most cases, it comes from poor engagement or incorrect tension. Use this on-site order of checks:

  • Pitch match first: chain standard (08B/10B/12A, etc.) must match sprocket pitch. Mismatch causes incomplete seating and skipping.

  • Alignment inspection: shaft parallelism/coaxiality errors lead to side loading, tooth climbing, and unstable running.

  • Tension guideline: mid-span sag ≈ 2%–3% of center distance. Too loose = skipping; too tight = rapid tooth + bearing wear.

  • Correct lubrication zone: oil must reach the roller-to-tooth-root contact area. Dry running causes noise, tooth thinning, and chipping.
